Copies of tracings made in 1917 from old Government plans of the Port Arthur Convict Settlement, mounted on canvas and bound (by Walch's). Photographic copies of tracings, possible made later. The original tracings were stamped "P.W.D. traced 1917", with a number. The copies are not coloured, although descriptions refer to "parts shaded red", etc. Includes military barracks, penitentiary, model prison, block plan of the settlement, Port Arthur church etc.
Collection consists of five volumes of press cuttings and notes relating to Hobart history, buildings and hotels.

Box pIan of the Palace Theatre, Elizabeth Street, Hobart, upstairs. Undated. The Palace Theatre was opened around 1914 and was closed November 1925 when it was converted into retail use by H.E. Round. In later years it was occupied by Wales Travel Service and by 1981 it was a bank. It was demolished and a new building was erected on the site. In 2016 an new development was approved Designed by Jaws Architects, the Palace Hotel takes its name from the Palace Theatre, which stood on the site for much of the twentieth century

From the age of 13 Sarah Mitchell daily noted in her journal the state of the weather, her routine activities about the house and property, visits of friends, an occasional trip to Hobart, as in August 1872, and her visit to Europe in 1900-1. The first three diaries are written in home made notebooks, the remainder in printed 'Letts' diaries. Some entries are 'cross written'. There is no diary for 1936.
Some of the journals include monthly cash accounts, mostly of small payments for such items as petticoats and gloves; also, for example in 1830, 'butter account' (including receipts, payments for carriage, etc.) and 'Kennedia' account (rent received, sheep bought
from father, taxes, rates etc.).

This daguerrotype may possibly be of Sophia Lee Archer nee Mattinson, who was born in 1809.
She married John Lee Archer, the Colonial Engineer and Architect, in 1833 aged 25. Pocket case constructed of wood frame, covered in embossed leather. When opened, it has one photograph in a frame made of brass and on the back side of the door a blue velvet embossed pad. Case is hinged with leather and closed with two small latches.
