Copies of letters from Thomas James Lempriere (1796-1852) public official, author and artist who served as Commissariat at Sarah Island (1827–30) to George Maclean, Deputy- Commissary-General, from Sarah Island, Macquarie Harbour, Van Diemen's Land, dated 18 June 1846-26 October 1847, reporting provisions and work of the prisoners sent to get huon pine etc. The letters of the 18 and 26 October 1846 report arrival, inadequate habitation (houses having been burnt down) and prisoners refusal to work on building. The second document is a Daily Strength Register of the troops stationed at the Military Establishment, Macquarie Harbour, April 1846-October 1847 including a list of Convict passholders.

Garrison order book for the 96th Regiment dated 6 April 1847 - 9 March 1848. Also daily record book kept by Thomas Samuel Stewart who was the Commissariat Storekeeper at Norfolk Island when it was finally abandoned as a convict settlement.

Business letter book dated 16 August 1847 to 9 September 1850 of John Thomas Waterhouse, general trader and shipowner of Hobart. The letters are addressed to traders, agents in mainland ports and relate to cargoes of all kinds, including provisions, spirits etc.
In Wood's Royal Kalendar of 1849 - J. T. Waterhouse, shipping agent is listed as owning 6 ships (John Bull, Scout, Timbo, Triton, Waterlily and Maguasha)

Both made before Robert Russell, appointee of Moderator of the Presbyterian Church. Made at Morven ( now Evandale) Stephen Collins and Louisa Freelth, and Thomas Spinks and Mary Jones.

Copies of letters written by John Martin, June to November 1849 to his brother David, from Dublin, the ship 'Elphinstone' and from Bothwell, Tasmania. Martin was an Irish political prisoner transported to Van Diemen's Land.

Collection of meeting minutes, directors meetings and share register for the Hobart Town Turkish Bath Company

From the age of 13 Sarah Mitchell daily noted in her journal the state of the weather, her routine activities about the house and property, visits of friends, an occasional trip to Hobart, as in August 1872, and her visit to Europe in 1900-1. The first three diaries are written in home made notebooks, the remainder in printed 'Letts' diaries. Some entries are 'cross written'. There is no diary for 1936.
Some of the journals include monthly cash accounts, mostly of small payments for such items as petticoats and gloves; also, for example in 1830, 'butter account' (including receipts, payments for carriage, etc.) and 'Kennedia' account (rent received, sheep bought
from father, taxes, rates etc.).

Publication entitled 'Salmoniana,' by Barri Couta(pseud.)m June 1866. Humorous verse and sketches concerning the arrival of salmon ova in Tasmania. The names of the commissioners and others have been noted on the sketches in this pamphlet which includes advertisements printed by J. Walch & Son.

Letter from Michael Maxwell Shaw dated 7 July 1869 to William Boyer about the 'Castra' settlement - "I think that a society of gentlemen at Castra would do much to establish a sound tone of feeling and manners through the island". He also describes
