Cotton: Road Board's thanks for his trouble over main roads dated 13 July 81 (15.7.81). Letters addressed to Helen (as Dear Helen or Helen Love) at W.E. Shoobridge, New Norfolk. Letter of 8.5.81 gives views on plain weddings - he and Sarah had wanted "damper
wedding" (as in simple or "damper" picnics), Helen helped with the birth of Annie Shoobridge's baby (31.8.81) - mother Ann Mather grateful, rough plan of the interior of Kelvedon (23.8.81 ), reference to Eliza - brought up by Cottons but "bolted with the handsome Portuguese negro Gomez" - a "fine animal and no more (23.10.81 & 28.10.81 ).

Practical work notes

Sixteen photographs taken at times between 1934 and the 1970s. One is of Ruth at Sandy Bay presumably before leaving for England. Later photographs show Ruth on her honeymoon, horse riding (presumably in England) and, later still, at Eaglehawk Neck and Orford. There are several passport photographs and one studio portrait taken in England in 1945.

This is a personal diary writen by Arthur E. Risby (1856-1915) son of Joseph Edward Risby and includes notes of the weather, Huon Regatta, sailing, arrival and departure of boats; also some notes from 1878 - the mill burnt down, 'Helen' and 'Esk' started for London.

Letters from Albert J . Gillies to Frank C. Green (1959-61) commenting on the draft manuscript and enclosing extracts from his father's papers and from news­papers that might be quoted.
