Letters from Charles Meredith (1811-1880) to his mother and father, from Maria Island: whale blubber, needed casks, calico etc. (6 Aug. 1833); from Hobart wool prices, John Amos' grant, Allport's circular (Aug. 1834); from N.S.W.: visiting farms (Sept. l834); from Hobart: Colonist, Robertson editor, libel case- Robertson sentenced to 13 months in prison and £200 fine for libel on Col. Arthur &
Rowlands (Feb.-Mar. 1835), Boyes, schooner stores, wool prices; Montague & Col. Arthur - Arthur trying to aggravate family; Allport advised against action against Rowlands, advised father to return servants to Government and confine pursuits to sheep, price of sugar, rice etc., interview with Frankland in re McDonald's grant; from N.S.W.: purchased sheep run at "Tuggranery" on Murrumbidgee River, Capt Sturt arrived from England married and selected "Gininginingderry" [Ginninderra] 16 miles from Tuggranery

Letters from school at New Town Academy from Henry Meredith (1821-1836): went to races- boat on four wheels drawn by horses, new school being erected, holidays with Master Butcher and Master Smith, hopes Mother recovered from her "long illness" (1832-1833); from Hobart: business matters, Boyes, Richards and Smith's bills, vessel nearly discharged and Bell kept sober (5 Dec. 1834).

Built for use as a lighthouse tender and serviced lighthouses around the south east coast and Tasmania. Owned by Victorian Ports and Harbours Dept. The papers consist of letters to Hugh from his fiancee, family and friends, bills and papers relating to debts and some papers relating to the sale of a plot of land in Glenorchy. There are three items only of Hugh's father - all relating to the Southern Tasmanian Rifle Association.

Letter from Hugh Synnot Hull to Frank Allison asking sanction for his engagement to Allison's daughter, Laura, with Allison's reply (November 1878) and a letter of good wishes from Mrs. Allison (August 1879).

Papers relating to a small piece of property in Glenorchy (O'Brien's Bridge), part of which was brought from George Hull by James Aitkin in 1848 and settled on his daughter, Mrs. Hugh Munro Hull (died 1852), then to Hugh Munro Hull (died 1882) for life, remainder to her children, and another piece adjoining, given by George Hull to Hugh Munro Hull for life then to Hugh Synnot Hull. Including:

Papers relating to liabilities, including requests for payments of unpaid bills, solicitors' letters, summons to Court of Requests, promissory note 1881. The sums involved were small and only related to minor items.

Correspondence from and to Laura Hull (Mrs Hugh Synnot Hull, formerly Allison).

Collection consists of Protestant hymns printed for special services in Hobart churches, chiefly Wesley Church and Brisbane Street Congregational Church.

This collection includes typescripts and manuscripts of articles by Dr. Jeffrey on a variety of subjects, medical, historical and biographical. Many were written under the pen name "Exul" for publication in The Bulletin.

Undated poems and notebook of verse with some press cuttings.

Notebooks containing vocabularies and notes relating to Aristophanes' "Knights", Theocritus' "Idylls", Vergil's Aeneid, Xenophon and Dumas' "La Tulipe Noir" made while Eric Jackson was a matric student at Leslie House School, 1905, and while a classics student at the University of Tasmania under W.H. Williams and R.L. Dunbabin. Jackson graduated BA. in 1910 and MA in 1912.

Written from school, Mr Cowle's 'Hobart Town Classical and Commercial Academy' by John Beecham Brownell to parents [Thomas Coke and Elizabeth Brownell] dated 15 December 1851: Christmas holidays would start on 17 December.
