Biographical history

Peter Harrisson arrived in Van Diemen's Land via the ‘Macclesfield’ on 8th of September, 1822. He received a grant of 2000 acres at Oatlands, lived at Grove House, Jericho, married Mary Lloyd Owen of Jericho and died on 20 July 1869, aged 78.

Original diary was presented to the Royal Society by Mrs Joan Bruford in 1949 along with a typescript copy, a second copy, this copy, of the typescript was presented to the University Library

Typescript copy of a diary entitled Memorandum of a voyage to Van Diemen's Land 1822. It is the diary of Peter Harrisson's voyage to Van Diemen's Land during the period 1 February to 8 September 1822, with such observations as may prove useful to future migrants. Original diary is a 96 pp notebook held in Royal Society of Tasmania archives (RS47). This is a typescript copy of the original with index.
