Letter from Thomas Soltit of Goulburn Street, Sydney, to Isaac Stickney, Scarborough, England, reporting the death of his nephew when his vessel ran on shore and was swamped near the Manning River about 8 November, when he was employed by a Mr Steele sailing about the coast for cedar for about £2 per month (4 Dec. 1834); letter from Isaac Stickney to Governor Burke of N.S.W. (and official copy of letter) asking for information about the death of the young man (22 May 1835); letter addressed to T. C. Harrington to inform Mr Backhouse about Isaac Stickney's letter, result of enquiries and papers received from the Port Officer; memo that Mr Steel had Stickney's watch.

Six poster bills of varying sizes, announcing pleasure trips by SS 'Koonya ' and regular service to Saltwater River and East Bay.

An account ledger of timber merchant (unknown but could be Risby). Ledger accounts headed by name of client. Entries, dated, record: number, description, sum (with debit and credit in columns on the same page). Items mentioned are mainly timber but also include shingles, palings, freight, cartage, painting, insurance. Payments are noted as cheque or cash, or sometimes 'goods', or bacon, tea, sugar, soap, tobacco, castor oil. The volume includes an alphabetical index of clients names. These include many well-known names and, where addresses are given, are usually, but not only, residents of Hobart. Several clients are described as builders. Sleepers were supplied for the Government railways and timber for the Hobart Exhibition. Among clients' names are, for example, W. Batt, builder, Sandy Bay; Bidencope; Burn & Son; Cascade Brewery; Clark, undertaker Brisbane Street; Currie, Murray St.; Cygnet Coal Co.; Gas Co.; Government Railways; Hobart Corporation; Marine Board, Mcgregor & Co. Mill; Oates Dock; H. Priest, Melville St.; Public Works, ;Telegraph Dept.; Risby,; R. Shoobridge, New Norfolk; E. Tolman; Walsh,; A.G. Webster.

Letter from Sarah Threlkeld (nee Arndell wife of L.E. Threlkeld, missionary) dated 24 May 1840. From Ebenezer, Lake Macquarie to brother [in law] and sister Gunn: L.E.T. taking service, children busy with books, family.

Letter regarding Robert Simpson dated 1846. Inquiry from Glasgow solicitors to Gunn about a Robert Simpson who was convicted of theft in Glasgow in 1823 and transported, convicted again in 1840, but not heard of since, was next of kin to an uncle recently deceased.
