Correspondence with Sir John Franklin dated 1839 and 1841 regarding - Friends of the Church of England (4 April 1839); draft letter from Henty petitioning for the discharge of Edward Bonner from service as "boy" on H.M.S. Favorite (Capt. Dunlop) so that he and his brother, Henty's clerk, might provide means to bring out their poor mother and brothers and sisters from England and Sir John's reply that discharge was "contrary to the practice of the service", also reference to Launceston Horticultural Society (6 July 1841).

Letter regarding Robert Simpson dated 1846. Inquiry from Glasgow solicitors to Gunn about a Robert Simpson who was convicted of theft in Glasgow in 1823 and transported, convicted again in 1840, but not heard of since, was next of kin to an uncle recently deceased.

Circular letter from the Bishop giving notice of confirmation on 18 May 1844, advising that the 'most proper age for confirmation' was sixteen and that careful teaching was necessary in preparation. Plus xerox copy of similar notice 1846.

He also refers to the arrival of ships, the weather including snow in the streets of Hobart on 29 September 1849; to friends such as Dr. Lillie' , and James Thomson; the drowning of Mr Montague brother of 'the late Puisne Judge' (8 Jan. 1849); a duel fought by Edward Macdowell and F.
