Victory, Portsmouth, dated 5 December 1812 to his sister, written from 'Victory' Portsmouth, including the news that he was likely to be sent to Spain and a copy of music of six hornpipes for his 'dear little nephew'; addressed to Thomas Lane, junior, jappaner and painter, Old Blue Bell, Wednesfield, Near Wolverhampton, Staffordshire.
Copies of letters from Thomas James Lempriere (1796-1852) public official, author and artist who served as Commissariat at Sarah Island (1827–30) to George Maclean, Deputy- Commissary-General, from Sarah Island, Macquarie Harbour, Van Diemen's Land, dated 18 June 1846-26 October 1847, reporting provisions and work of the prisoners sent to get huon pine etc. The letters of the 18 and 26 October 1846 report arrival, inadequate habitation (houses having been burnt down) and prisoners refusal to work on building. The second document is a Daily Strength Register of the troops stationed at the Military Establishment, Macquarie Harbour, April 1846-October 1847 including a list of Convict passholders.
Log book of schooner 'Malcolm', master Walter Langworthy. An official printed form Board of Trade log book, but it contains no entries except a list of crew and a report of the death of the First Mate, James Roper, from a fall at Port Jackson.

Letter written from Hobart to John Ingle, London:- depression in monetary, commercial and agricultural interests (affairs of Montefiore, Bryant, Hopleys (and their agent Hobbs). The writer also attempted 'from recollection a sketch [plan] of your property in Argyle and Macquarie streets showing the present improvement' of new wharves reclaimed from the sea and the extension of Argyle Street cut through Government House gardens , and also the old police office on the corner which belonged to the Gellibrand's trustees but was up for sale, being in a dilapidated state, and would be a valuable site for shops or stores • The letter is torn and a piece is missing with the signature, but it may- have been written by Edward Lord.

Noblet, Liege [Belgium] The plates show drawings of various machinery for coal mining, including carriages, compressed air system, lifts, pumps, digging machines, props, etc. and drawings of mines and coal seams of the mines of the Meuse and Ruhr. Legends at the top of each plate are in French, with English and German translations below the plate.

The two volumes of the green leather-bound, gold-embossed University of Tasmania roll books list University of Tasmania graduates conferred since the university's formation in 1890 until 1970. In the first few decades it also includes graduates from other universities in the Empire whose degrees were conferred at the University of Tasmania as ad eundem gradum degrees. The first graduates were conferred on 25 June 1890. The first University of Tasmania graduate was Samuel Picken and his degree was conferred 21 December 1894. The first University of Tasmania female graduate was Miss Eliza Wilson and her degree was conferred on 23 December 1896. Please note: the index to this volume appears to be incomplete. One parchment document of the convict record of Daniel Ellis, No 266 per Manlius, tried Lincoln 18 July 1829, transported for 7 years and again 7 years 1834, offence stealing bundle of draper's goods. Record includes description (trade quarry man and carter, aged 28 in 1834, dark complexion, tattooed etc) and conduct record (hulk report bad, numerous charges of stealing, neglect of duty, absconsion etc brought by employer, Archer 1831-1834, further sentence, conduct at Port Arthur bad), recommended for conditional pardon 7n/46.
Diploma of degree of Associate of Arts awarded to Henry Lewis Garrett of Hobart Town, who passed in English, Latin(with credit and prize) Greek, French (with credit) and pure mathematics and was placed in the second class Signed by H. Officer, president of the Tasmanian Council of Education. Seal of Tasmanian Council of Education 1859, red wax, lozenge shaped, backed paper: open book "Floreat Tasmania' on diamond pattern, in tin (separate from document). Diploma has decorative border of oak Leaves and acorns designed by Henry Hunter and engraved by Alfred Bock.
Consist of Meredith family correspondence, some accounts and photographs. The letters are mainly between mothers and daughters and sisters and record the life of a settler family from the point of view of the women and children of the family.
Collection consists of type written transcript of original diary of William Sorell Jnr. for the years 1823-1825. In his journal Sorell made brief daily entries of his voyage out, his reception at Government House, the arrival of Lt. Governor Arthur, his new post as Registrar of the Supreme Court. The entries are brief but of particular interest are his references to the arrival of ships and his meeting officers and other people of note landing at Hobart. He makes occasional references to his work and cases in court and to Judge Pedder and his wife. Apart from his work Sorell's chief activities, as noted, were riding, walking, reading and dining with 'friends and officers of the Barracks and Convict Department. He attended church regularly on Sunday and mentions the arrival of an organ subscribed for by the in habitants (13, 14 April 1825). He took occasional shooting trips, mainly to the Coal River (Richmond). Most of the entries are, however, brief and lacking in detail or descriptive accounts as may be illustrated by his reference to a proposal to transfer the capital to Brighton: 'Meeting at Government House. Removal to Brighton in a large Meeting. I attended. I think the Lt. Governor has made up his mind upon the removal.' (19 May 1825) Transcript of original diary of William Sorell Jnr. made by L. Papers relating to the voyage out and settlement of Robert Mather and his wife, Ann (Benson). Many of the papers (Ml0/16-20) consist of extracts from letters from Ann Mather to her brother, Rev. Samuel Benson, and sisters Isabella Whytall and Sarah Benson (m. Hammond 1832), in UK and were probably given to their niece, Sarah Benson Mather who married George Washington Walker in 1840, after Ann Mather's death in 1831.
