Cash book dated 1813-1817 noting expenses of travelling in Sweden, Prussia and Hull, including carriage, inn, servants, etc.; also accounts with various firms and receipts.

Capt. William Wood 1833 - 1846

Correspondence from Capt. Wood of Hawkridge, Snakebanks, concerning his financial distress, debts, loans from Leake, mortgages on his property, attempts to sell "Windfalls" etc.; Leake to take his property and assets in trust (1844), meetings of creditors; some letters from Louis Wood when Wood was ill. Also promissory notes, accounts, letters from John Swan (1844, 1846, 1850) and Henry Priaulx (1844). Wood's letters frequently mention his wife's poor health and his own illness and also include general references: servants 1834-6); sun dial (10 Sept. 1836); ball (14 May 1842); river flooded 350 acres of corn (14 Sept. 1842); rebuilding river banks (Oct. 1842); fire damage in Hamburg (2 Oct. 1842).

Visit to Britain and Europe: long descriptive letters about trip, Lettie's school in Brighton, U.K., old Tasmanian friends in U.K. especially Galloways and Craigs, cousin Helen Bell's affairs (including letter from H.B. 6 Nov. 1876 enclosed with AL.'s letter of 11 Nov. 1876), tour of Continent with Lettie and new wife (1878) -his marriage good for Lettie and his own comfort, wife will visit her parents at Gippsland on way home to Tasmania.

Account with Schroder & Grossmann dated November 1821 to August 1822. Small notebook: "Contra buch fur Sr. J. Leake mit Schroder & Grossmann A.1821", containing chronological entries of fairly large sums and personal names or figures.
The notebook was later used as a diary by Mrs E. Leake and some draft letters by W.B. Leake are noted in the back.

Purchases made by Leake before departure for V.D.L., including: clothing, cloth, farm implements, harness, ox harness, ploughs, carts, carpentry and joinery tools, millstones, smith's anvil, seeds of grass, clover, rye, parsley etc. for pasture, assorted garden vegetable seeds, flowers, hawthorn berries, stove, pots and pans including cast iron girdle, "tea boiler" and camp oven,candle molds,12 boxes of crown glass, drawers and bookcase, sea grass mattress, medicines, stationery, a patent brewing machine, a pair of brass barreled pistols and bullet molds.
