Description

The coordination and provision of health services for the benefit and well-being of the people of Tasmania. The function encompasses community health programs, public health and hospital services. Community health programs include health promotion, palliative care, child and youth health, dental health, mental health, aged care and disability services and alcohol and drug dependency services. Public health encompasses environmental health services, inspections and notifiable disease management. The function also includes the regulation of health products, services and health care professionals. It also involves the provision of health emergency services (ambulance).
