Copy of William J. Johnstone's reminiscences of the history of William Johnstone's business in Launceston from 1842 and the partnership with Stuart Eardley Wilmot, who had married Rosa c. Johnstone, founding the firm of Johnstone & Wilmot.

Old day book for the firm Johnstone & Wilmot dated 1920 to 1924 into which invoices for supplies have been pasted. Supplies include: wines and spirits, whisky, lime juice, sarsaparilla, cigars, tinned herrings, tinned salmon, chocolates, jelly crystals, tomato sauce, pearl barley, etc. imported from U.K., France, Germany, etc.

The William and John Clark Papers are a record of a settler family in Tasmania. They include papers concerning the management of the Cluny property, a few papers relating to Bothwell and John Clark's correspondence concerning his work as a magistrate. There are also letters to John Clark from William Barnes (1791 ?-1848). brewer of Launceston, 1829-1839; Matthew Curling Friend of Newnham, Port Officer
at George Town, 1833-1841, and from Charles Arthur (1808-1884), nephew of and Aide-de-Camp to Lt.
Governor George Arthur, 1827-1829. There are also letters from British army officers' wives and daughters addressed to Jane Clark. Also included are papers relating to the Weston Family, Ann (neeClark) and William Pritchard Weston

Letters between Thomas Cotton in London and his brother Francis. The first one, written in 1835, was addressed to Evans & Co. surgical instrument makers in London for Thomas Cotton junior. Francis talks about goods shipped, surgical instruments sold, Samuel Cook, Theophilus Pollard married again, James Backhouse and George Washington Walker, cattle dying, thirty grazing on William Lyne's marsh and a good harvest. The fragment of a letter to Francis mentions a shipment on the 'Heather Bell' and a letter of 1856 from Thomas to Francis mentions George E. Broadbent emigrating to be near James and Fanny Dickinson, Samuel Cook and the death of Aunt 'Hill'. A letter from Thomas to Francis of 1865 mentions Thomas Ball retired doorkeeper of Stoke Newington Friends' Meeting, a nephew's business doing well and Anna Maria joining with him in sending greetings. Finally there is a Remembrance Card on the death of Thomas Cotton junior in 1876.
